The Centre provides scientific support to clients from the private and the public sector, such as UNEP and other organisations in the field of SCP. This support includes the development, testing, implementation and monitoring of concrete projects, especially in developing countries, which enables these countries to leapfrog to sustainable consumption and production patterns using life cycle thinking and regional perspectives as guiding principles. Around 100 million tons of food are being wasted annually in the EU (estimate for 2012) and about 10 million tons in Germany alone (estimate by WWF 2015). The food thrown away in Europe would be enough to feed all the hungry people in the world two times over (European Commission 2015). Read more
The CATALYST project organised its final event during the CAPS2015 conference in Brussels on July 7-8, 2015. The CATALYST project develops and tests Collective Intelligence tools for online communities, which work on finding solutions for societal challenges. The CSCP is testing the tools with online communities working on sustainable lifestyles. Read more
The CSCP publishes in cooperation with the Akatu Institute in Brazil, Columbia Business School from New York as well as OuiShare and Shareable the report “Listening to Sharing Economy Initiatives”. A total of 110 initiatives that are active in the Sharing Economy from Europe, the US and Latin America participated in the survey. The report delivers key insights for all actors in the Sharing Economy and points out potential for future development. Read more
