CSCP Newsletter November 2012

Dear Reader,

2012 will be a year to remember for sustainable consumption and production. During the UN RIO+20 Conference on Sustainable Development the CSCP came together with many others who share the wish of a world where all can live happily within the material limits of our one planet. Since June of 2012, consumption habits and production structures that respect these natural boundaries are no longer mere wishful thinking. As an outcome of the RIO+20, the paper entitled 'The future we want' outlines SCP as a priority and reaffirms the need for a 10-year framework of programs to implement the priority.

At RIO+20 the CSCP accomplished much. We launched global networks on Sustainable Lifestyles and on Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Together with our partners from the SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles project, we jointly premiered four scenarios, each envisioning a concrete roadmap to achieve a “one-world-living” lifestyle by 2050.

I sincerely invite you to read about these projects and many other CSCP activities in this newsletter - our contribution to the worldwide process of making ‘The Future We Want’ a reality.

Michael Kuhndt

Head of CSCP

Welcome to your future life - SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles 2050

The SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles 2050 network is searching for new sustainable lifestyle research opportunities that may be of interest to the European Commission. As excited as we are to have participated in the discussion, this also means the SPREAD project is coming to an end. As one of our headline projects we developed four scenarios of how our lives could look like in the year 2050, and a roadmap and action plan for how to get there. Read more...
