On 19 October 2014 the workshop “The Future Consumer - Enabling sustainable lifestyles through business innovation” was organised in Copenhagen, Denmark, by the Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) in partnership with the European Environment Agency (EEA), its Topic Centre on Waste and Material in a Green Economy (ETC/WMGE) and with the support of the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF). It aimed to pre-launch a new 3GF partnership on business and social innovation for sustainable lifestyles.
The workshop took place back-to-back with the 4th Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) on 20-21 October 2014, which focused on identifying practical solutions and operative collaborative partnerships on “Changing Production and Consumption Patterns through Transformative Action”.
3GF convened more than 300 leaders and decision-makers from businesses, finance, governments, cities and civil society to further advance inclusive green growth. Among these, 20 high-level participants were welcomed at the workshop, including the first secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Chief Executive of WRAP, Head of C&R Gucci and others.
This highly interactive workshop was designed as an experiential dialogue inviting participants to get engaged and to explore ways through which business innovation can shape future sustainable lifestyles.
The activities of this workshop were a preparation for the successful partnership session at 3GF, which took place on 21 October 2014. Stakeholders that have expressed their interest in being involved in the follow-ups of these meetings and the partnership include The WBCSD, several businesses and governments such as Denmark, Kenya and Mexico expressed. Additionally, the UN Global Compact and ICLEI will explore options to host dialogs in selected cities and countries with the purpose of advancing discussions and actions.
Next steps include the consolidation of the partnership pathways and the reach out to interested actors to ensure their endorsement.
