Recently, the CSCP in collaboration with the Eco-Innovation Observatory developed and officially launched a report “Eco-innovation practices and business opportunities for European SMEs in the emerging markets of Asia, Latin America and Africa" exploring the role of European SMEs in promoting a green economy. The report analyses the challenges and opportunities, for European eco-innovators, existing within the emerging markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Despite existing barriers and hurdles, these emerging economies offer many opportunities for eco-innovations in various sectors and at various stages of the value chain starting from extraction to recycling, recovery and reuse. Depending on their areas of specialisation, European SMEs can easily spot the business case for exporting and then tailoring clean technologies and organisational methods to needs of the local markets.
