Multi-stakeholder Workstudio “Collaboration for Sustainable Lifestyles through Business and Social Innovations” in Berlin on the 4th and 5th November 2013

The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is organising a multi-stakeholder workstudio “Collaboration for Sustainable Lifestyles through Business and Social Innovations” in Berlin on the 4th and 5th November 2013. The event is organised in partnership with the European Environment Agency (EEA) and its Topic Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ETC/SCP), and with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).


The overall objective of the event is to create a multi-stakeholder dialogue on how business and social innovations can foster the up-take of sustainable lifestyles in Europe, associated success factors, and pathways in which stakeholders can assist with achieving this vision.

 

Over the one and half day, the multi-stakeholder event aims to:

 

Day 1: Lifestyles in 2050
• Develop visions for living sustainably in 2050, starting from the current state of sustainable living in Europe.
• Identify examples of existing initiatives and promising practices towards living sustainably in Europe that could be applied elsewhere.
• Learn from social and business innovations in other countries.


Day 2: Living sustainably today
• Identify key opportunity areas and success factors for innovations and entrepreneurship to achieve more sustainable living.
• Explore opportunities and policy options to scale up existing efforts and identify new collaborative opportunities.
• Enable multi-stakeholder engagement to catalyse the advancement of existing sustainable innovations.


The workstudio is part of the activities on innovative sustainable business models run by the EEA and its ETC/SCP and of the projects Budding Ideas Glocally for 2050 (BIG2050) and Business Innovation for Sustainable Scale-up (BISS) funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The BIG2050 and BISS projects contribute to the Global Network on Sustainable Lifestyles (www.vision2050.net) and the Global Network on Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship (www.scaling-up.net).


The workstudio will be delivered in English.

 

Targeted participants


The event seeks participation from stakeholders such as policy makers,development agencies, entrepreneurs, civil society organizations, consumer groups, businesses, ! nancial institutions, academia and the media, with an interest and role in addressing sustainable consumption and production issues in Europe. This includes stakeholders already or looking forward to getting engaged in actions for changing current consumption and production patterns.


The workstudio is designed as a one and half day interactive agenda so you can experience presentations on specialized topics, group discussions, and other interactive activities. During the workstudio you will have the opportunity to explore existing and new initiatives on sustainable lifestyles and entrepreneurship from Europe, and internationally. Furthermore, the workstudio programme provides a platform to network with other organisations and establish new contacts.
