4th Sustainable Summer School on Sustainable Transition in Helsinki, Finland – Registration now open

For the fourth year running the Sustainable Summer School is back by popular demand! Design students from all over the world are invited to meet in Helsinki, Finland from 25th August till 3rd September 2012 to develop ideas around sustainable travel, lifestyles, basic aspects and tools and much more. The focus of this year’s meeting will be looking at ‘Sustainable Transition’ and asking which steps are needed in order to move from our current situation towards a more sustainable future.

 

Experts in their field will be leading workshops on Sustainable Tourism’, The Aesthetics of Simple Living, Rediscovering Happiness, Sustainable Transition and Resource Efficient and Sustainable Product Service Systems (PSS). These workshops aim to give an insight into the main themes, questions and developments in this area, through a mixture of theory, creativity and team work.

 

In previous years we have focused on Managing Sustainable Design, Societies Systems and Swarms and Value through less, which have all been meet with great enthusiasm and interest.

 

The Summer School was initiated by Brigitte Wolf, from the University of Wuppertal, and Christa Liedtke, from the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy in 2008. A strong support network has since been established with active partners such as the Folkwang University of the Arts, ecosign, the University of Lucerne, Switzerland and the UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP).

 

The organizers are looking forward to welcoming all students wishing to attend the fourth Sustainable Summer School in Helsinki, Finland.
