Dear Reader,
as the year 2013 comes to a close we would like to take a look back on what we accomplished in the past year in terms of advancing One Planet Living, our vision of an Earth where Consumption and Production don’t consume resources at a rate greater than they can be naturally regenerated on our one planet. Just in the last few weeks we were able to harvest the benefits of a full year’s work.
As Co-Chair of the Task Force of Sustainable Consumption and Green Development, Michael Kuhndt, Director of the CSCP, delivered the final Task Force report during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). The policy recommendations in the report may influence China’s policy on sustainable consumption.
A multi-stakeholder Workstudio was held in Berlin and complemented a series of workshops that we delivered in five different countries across the world. At these workshops we helped create and disseminate visions of Sustainable Lifestyles in the year 2050 and identified some of the social and technological innovation that will lead us to our common sustainable future.
Last but not least, the SWITCH-Asia Network Facility rounded off the year by completing the first phase of its work and is well placed for an equally good start to the second work phase with the GFA Consulting Group on board as a new partner to help support the Network Facility.
Building on these achievements and many more, we are looking forward to continuing our journey toward One Planet Living in 2014. We would like to thank all our partners and clients across the world and offer our warmest seasons greetings. We hope you can also look back on a successful 2013 and look forward with optimism toward a sustainable 2014.
Michael Kuhndt
Director of CSCP
