The CSCP began a partnership with the University of Applied Management Studies in Mannheim (HDWM) as a conceptual and content partner in the development of the part-time MBA in Sustainable Management to begin in September 2013.
The idea that our modern economies must not jeopardize the needs of future generations has become a widely recognised concern. On this basis the concept of “sustainability” is highly debated in the business community.
Profit plus People and Planet
Next to monetary goals, sustainably managed organizations also work toward addressing socially and environmentally challenging issues. In this respect, Sustainable Management is a holistic concept that aims to secure the future viability of companies.
With a steady increase in the number of companies and organizations that acknowledge their responsibility toward the future of society and environment, it has become clear that there is a lack of appropriately qualified executive professionals. This is exactly the challenge the practice-oriented MBA in Sustainable Management aims to tackle. In addition to providing technical and methodological knowledge, the students will develop soft skills and scientific research expertise as well as being supported in their personal ethical development. Last but not least, the MBA will educate and motivate students to engage with civil society organisations.
Filling corresponding gaps
The MBA in Sustainable Management is a part-time on-campus degree with a broader curriculum than what many existing higher education institutions offer. Students can choose between four major fields of study: General Management, Energy Management, Municipal Management, Diversity Management and Labour Market Integration. Classes will be held in German and English.
Two interactive modules delivered by the CSCP
The CSCP offers two modules of the MBA course . The first is a seminar block entitled the CSR Practice Workshop. In this seminar students will concentrate on the practical application of tools to develop and implement an effective CSR strategy. The second module entitled New Business Models and the Sharing Economy will provide students with insights into new sustainability-promoting business models.
